PENSIONS FUND

It is a private solution whose primary purpose is to supplement INSS benefits. This long-term investment mechanism is financed by contributions from employers, employees, or both, with the aim of ensuring additional benefits and robust financial security for the future. LEGAL FRAMEWORK IN MOZAMBIQUE

Social security in Mozambique, previously the exclusive domain of the state, underwent a significant overhaul on August 17, 2009, with the publication of Decree No. 25/2009. This legislation stipulated that all pension plans or agreements must be managed by registered local entities. It is essential to emphasize that the Supplementary Fund does not replace the mandatory scheme, but acts in parallel to minimize exclusive dependence on the public system. Asset protection is rigorous: the assets belong to the workers and not to the managing entity, and are safeguarded by rules that dictate the composition of the assets and the investment policy.

Open Fund

This is a pre-structured financial product, set up on the initiative of a legally authorized pension fund management entity. In this model, the operating rules, membership conditions, and investment policies are defined unilaterally by the management entity. This solution prioritizes speed and simplicity of implementation, as the participating company accepts the conditions already established, benefiting from a professional management structure and economies of scale, without the need to create complex internal bodies for the direct supervision of assets.

Closed Fund

Set up on the initiative of a specific company or group of companies, exclusively for its employees. The main difference in this model is that the contract is signed directly between the company and the management entity, which gives the employer and its employees significantly greater influence. This structure allows the company to have an active voice in defining the rules of the plan, choosing the investment strategy, and directly supervising the management of the fund, ensuring that the project is fully aligned with the organizational culture and the specific financial protection objectives of the group.
